We all saw it coming and as much as I didn't want to believe it, Tumblr is on it's way out. They just updated their tos and starting on Dec. 17 they will no longer accept nudity on it's platform.

"A better, more positive Tumblr"

Most people used Tumblr for the nudity. I have a customer who has sent me 22 links in the last 3 days setting up our next roleplay. I'm sure other elements like fandoms etc will be able to thrive, maybe? I had just started to get back into the habit of using it again for adult marketing. They've updated some features that made posting easier.

Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).

None of my adult tumblrs have nudity on them but there are numerous references to camming etc. I wonder if those will get deleted?

We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check.

This tells me that yes, yes my tumblrs will be deleted.

The part regarding the banning of adult content on Tumblr

Adult Content. Don't upload images, videos, or GIFs that show real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples —this includes content that is so photorealistic that it could be mistaken for featuring real-life humans (nice try, though). Certain types of artistic, educational, newsworthy, or political content featuring nudity are fine. Don’t upload any content, including images, videos, GIFs, or illustrations, that depicts sex acts. For more information about what this guideline prohibits and how to appeal decisions about adult content, check out our help desk.

Female Presenting Nipples? WTF?

What is still permitted?

Examples of exceptions that are still permitted are exposed female-presenting nipples in connection with breastfeeding, birth or after-birth moments, and health-related situations, such as post-mastectomy or gender confirmation surgery. Written content such as erotica, nudity related to political or newsworthy speech, and nudity found in art, such as sculptures and illustrations, are also stuff that can be freely posted on Tumblr.

Ohhh sighs!

Looks like the algorithm is extremely hit or miss as well.

I realized I had a backup of some of my really old posts, and I'm putting them on my client-facing blog. I'm excited, thats a lot of content I don't have to write!

Mmhmm thats the plan! Unless you want to keep that content for link building instead of for engagement.

There is no doubt that the recent Tumblr ban on sexual content has been a pain in the ass for sex workers. I took a few days off from the internet because my head was about to explode. Luckily several of my regulars are hardcore 24/7 perverts and have been able to keep me up to date. Most of the info regarding Tumblr Alternatives isn't exactly new but some have become more promising sense recent developments. I still say that the best place to host your content is on your own self hosted PAID for website. Everything else should be used as a tool to send traffic to your self hosted Paid for website. Nothing is permanent and last forever....especially when it's free! Just create a cammodel blog and get it over with.

Here are the Tumblr Alternatives that I know of:

BDSMLR Obviously this one is more fetish based but I think it can have some potential for more vanilla content. You never know unless you try. And besides it's not like they're gonna delete your account because you aren't hardcore enough. Just use it for brand recognition. Drop your teasers and go. I'm not sure if they have a Tumblr uploader or not.

Blogr For Adult Content Creators

From what I'm reading it's still pretty buggy and the tumblr uploader needs some work. But it's free and growing in popularity.

Pilllowfort As A Tumblr Alternative

Pillowfort is the one that keeps popping up over and over during my research and I'm not sure if it's quite it right now? I can see them taking over for various fandoms, but I'm not completely convinced it's ready for adult content creators. Already they're getting slammed and I'm not sure why that is? Please feel free to enlighten me in this thread.

This is their most recent update regarding their platform and sexual content:

There's always SWITTER on Mastodon.

About Switter The Sex Worker Friendly Social Space And Their FAQ Section:
Post are called Toots instead of Tweets. And toots allow up to 500 characters.[/list]
    • Switter Instances are similar to Twitter Moments
    • You can have multiple Toots pinned to the top of your profile page. This is something I've been wanting on Twitter for the longest.
    • You can link your Twitter with Switter and cross post to both platforms.
    • It was created by a team of developers based in Australia, and the company name is AssemblyFour.
I have a few other Tumblr Alternatives For Sex Workers but I need to do a bit more research. I will be back to this thread in a bit.

My thoughts on the ones I've tried:

BDSMLR - looks/works almost identical to tumblr, I followed a few blogs I liked and got follows almost immediately (with no content posted) If it allows me to schedule posts, I may add it to the promo list after the new year.

Pillowfort seems way too young of an audience for me, plus has nothing when I search for my main niches.

Switter - geared more towards escorting, no good way to find like minded people or be seen in the feed (aside from posting a lot)

I joined sharesome, and I enjoy it a bit more. You can make groups dedicated to your niche and post promo content there. Other people can post to the groups too which makes it seem more natural and not a weird promo dump. They use flame token, but it hasn't launched yet so I wouldn't put too much value in it. They also require verification if you post your own content. (You can post links otherwise) Its super slow right now, but they are constantly changing to meet demand.

A customer just sent this one to me, Newtumbl as a possible Tumblr alternative. I haven't tried it out yet.
    disenfranchised immigrants
newTumbl was created specifically for refugees of other social media sites. We offer asylum to all those who feel persecuted simply for wanting to exercise your freedom of speech.
LOL Its all fun and games until the alt right shows up and shuts it down. Let's see how this one goes?

Sharesome launched a "find the pornstar" photo face recognition tool that promptly got shut down due to privacy complaints. I also deleted my sharesome account as I really didn't want to promote that or inadvertently donate my images to a database.

@ Naomicourtney Sadly I am not surprised to see this. I just read through that Twitter thread and see that Sam38g is all over them. 😂 There are some low down dirty mutha fuckas in this industry. How could they ever think that tool would be a great idea? Why would Xbiz even put that article on their website to begin with? It sounds like a lack of integrity issue.

I recently requested to have my account on the Xbiz forum deleted. It was great for networking to a point. But many of the members are super toxic. They don't respect performers and actually resent that we can make money without them.

Yes, Sam38g is how I found out about it. I'm happy she calls this stuff out.

I'm very tired of tech guys coming into this industry thinking it will be big bucks but do zero research on how different this industry is from any other, putting models at risk. I'm happy there are more and more model owned companies.
